Allow staff in Wales to converse with one-another in Welsh

The Welsh Language Act 1993 "establishes the principle that the Welsh and English languages should be treated on a basis of equality, in the conduct of public business in Wales".

However, Lidl UK have introduced a policy, stating the all Lidl employees in the UK must converse in English at all times (except when dealing with non-english speaking customers).  This came about after complaints of Polish employees in Scotland using Polish to converse with fellow employees.

The ban on foreign languages being used to converse with fellow staff members is generally welcomed by most and is perfectly legal.  The ban on Welsh being used in Welsh stores, however, is both disgraceful and illegal and MUST NOT be allowed to continue.  Welsh speakers in Wales have the legal right to use the language whenever they wish, and businesses in Wales have a legal obigation to allow the use of the language by all employees.

Lidl must realise the difference between stopped the use on foreign languages and stopping the use of Welsh in Wales.

Therefore this petition askes that the Lidl policy be changed to exclude Welsh as a banned language in their Welsh stores and allow Welsh speaking staff memebers to use Welsh to converse with colleagues at any time.
