Students of Liberty Union Schools started this petition to Libtery Union School Board

As the student body at Liberty Union, we understand what online learning is like verse in school learning. Many kids K-12 struggle much more with being out of school. Online learning will not only lower grades for some student but it also lowers confidence levels. If a student feels they can't do better and are not reaching expectations it can make them not care as much with nobody to motivate them. While on the other hand, there will be students that pass with flying colors. The online learning can feel not as challenging as in class sessions and not benefit the student as much. Another issue that will occur is parents not being able to be with their student to insure their school work is finished. Parents and guardians can not stop their lives because LUTS decisions. They have jobs and have to continue to work to support for their family. That leaves a elementary student home all day expected to do their school work, that leaves a high school student at home. Students of all ages being home all day will lead them to get bored and find other things to do like drugs, violence and causing trouble. Being in school helps more than the school board realizes with students attitudes and behavioral issues. When first informed of remote learning to start the question was asked why not just go back? Our schools answer was plain at best but detailed that Fairfield County is in the RED for Covid-19 cases. Understandable that there is reluctance to send 400+ students and administration  back to three schools but when you look at schools in Fairfield County going back such as Bloom Carroll, their students numbers are much higher than here at Liberty Union. If we can take the correct safety precautions and enforce them, we need to be back in school. To help parents not be overly worried, students learn to their greatest potential and teacher teach to their best ability's. None of which can be done with remote learning. As the student body our voices should be heard, if you agree or disagree we hope that you can just understand our side of the issue.
