They say Australia is a democratic country, it’s time we Test that theory.
As far as ‘we the people’ are concerned, the Australian Labor Party disrespected the majority of public’s support for Kevin Rudd as PM. First he was demoted against the wishes of the public who voted for him, but also again in the leadership challenge against Gillard earlier in the year. What was reflected by Labor’s attitude to the Australian public was “who cares what you want, we the ALP want Gillard and you can’t do anything about that”. Another ‘Slap on our face’ was from the independents supporting the Gillard government, displaying how little they valued public opinion.
The Parties need to understand, we the public are their employers. The majority of us, who only formally show our opinions once every few years at voting, communicate loud and clear who they choose as leader.
NOW it’s time to Test the Liberal Party of Australia, and see if it will be ignorant and arrogant just like Labor or if it will stand by its words of serving the Australian public by supporting our demand of promoting Malcolm Turnbull as Coalition leader in the next election, and promising that once Malcolm is leader, he would not be taken out like Rudd was. Instead, leave it to the public to decide if he did a good job as a PM at the following election.
We the Australian Public are the employers and it’s about time the Govt. and opposition understand that.
Time to see what our political parties think of the Australian public, will they pick what we want or will they mock us just like Labor does. Make a Stand!
To any government, don’t justify or give excuses but instead honor your commitment to Australian public.
