This campaign is for our GCSE citizenship, and our aim is to legalise the regulated sale of cannabis in order to reduce drug related illness and crime. As many may know, cannabis is the most abused drug in the UK. This can cause plenty of problems towards physical health, mental health and also crime rates.

Not knowing what you put in your body can be extremely dangerous, and these risks come with buying off the streets. If the cannabis is synthetic, this can damage physical health in many ways; increased heart rate and blood pressure, which may cause chest pains and damage your heart and even cause a heart attack, nausea and vomiting, tremors, seizures and fits and many others. Another risk is not knowing the THC content. This can cause many drug induced mental illnesses such as psychosis and schizophrenia. Legalising the sale would let people know what is inside the cannabis and how high the THC content is.

Legalising the sale of cannabis would also decrease the dangers of illegal trade and gang related violence due to drug dealing. This could also possibly reduce the issue of knife crime within the UK. In Colorado, a state that has legalised weed, murder rates have decreased by 50% and crime rates have decreased by 15% since the legalisation of cannabis.
