Hello my name is cay and I just wanted to start this because I hate it how myself and my other people apart of the lgbtq+ community don’t feel safe going to school. First of all in my high school there is only one transgender bathroom but that was put in 2015 only because the school didn’t want to have cases about not supporting the lgbtq+ which they don’t. In the middle school there are no transgender bathrooms and nothing to show they care or wanna help us. Our school has a gay straight alliance club but that is ran by the students therefore the school board the teachers anybody in the district has made no commitment to wanna help us. Last year I was very homophobic and rude to people about the community and I very but changed but I wanted to say the school has screenshots of me bullying and harassing people of the lgbtq+ and yet still nothing happend to me. I have ss of people bullying and harassing me and still nothing happens. Our school needs to stop focusing on the sexist dress code of a woman not being able to show her shoulder and focus more on cutting down on the homophobia in our school and making our lgbtq+ students feel more safe. I know this won’t get big or anything but I’m showing that no matter how little supporters I have I won’t stop until every student or every lgbtq+ member feels safe going to school.
