Make Mayow Road safer

Mayow Road in Sydenham (SE26) has become a treacherous commuter route for park visitors, residents, cyclists, drivers and the attendees of Forest Hill High School, Adamsrill Primary School, St Michael's C of E Primary School and Perrymount Primary School.
Over the last few years, there have been multiple high speed accidents that have led to the deaths of two people and caused serious injuries to others.
In 2011 - A 11-year old was hit on Mayow Road and rushed to hospital.
In 2013 - A 25-year old died in a car accident on Mayow Road.
In 2017 - A 44-year old died in a car accident on Mayow Road
In 2020 - A high speed accident on Mayow Road occurred and the car flipped.
These accidents happened in the same area, between Mayow Park and Forest Hill High School.
Since 2017 representations by local MPs and councillors have been made to the previous and current Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, Councillor Sophie McGeevor and yet no significant action has been taken.
The feedback from Lewisham council is that they have and will continue to monitor the situation.
But...How many more people need to die or be injured due to Lewisham's lack of action on Mayow Road?
The residents of Sydenham and Mayow road request immediate action from Councillor Sophie McGeevor. We recommend a full review of Mayow Road's safety risks and propose the following safety measures are put in place:
- Full length speed bumps
- Pedestrian crossings by all Mayow park entrances
- A speed camera
