SAVE GROVE PARK YOUTH CLUB FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS

The local community and Grove Park Youth Club Building Preservation Trust call on Lewisham Council to include the Youth Club in the Local List of significant buildings. For over 50 years the Club has served the local community, old and young, and we want to secure its future.

The building is a distinctive example of mid-century modernist architecture, finished in 1966 and designed by the world-renowned architectural team of the London County Council's Education Department. The building, and the Chinbrook Estate which it is a part of, is a prime example of social provision in the post-war era that's now largely lost from local government budgets.

The Local List protects buildings that do not currently meet the national criteria for statutory listing, but add local distinctiveness to the borough.

Grove Park Youth Club would be the first youth club to be included in the list, which currently encompasses over 200 entries ranging from residential properties to pubs.
