Lewisham Council: Pay the £500,000 redundancy payments owed to Forest Hill School
0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!
In 2017, Forest Hill School faced massive cuts. These cuts are now harming the quality of education for students and the working lives of staff. One of the contentious issues during the dispute, which involved 12 days strike action, was who was obliged to pay redundancy payments of £500,000.
These were paid from the FHS budget as Lewisham Council refused to pay. The Department for Education have confirmed the Council are expected to pay and union solicitors have contacted Lewisham. It was due to be discussed at the next Schools Forum but no movement on this.
We call on Mayor Damian Egan and Cabinet Member for School Improvement Chris Barnham to act immediately on this and give the school the financial support it needs.
