Keep Countin On Merci Ranch Arena operational

Keep Countin On Merci Ranch Arena operational
Hi!
My name is Chelsea McCormick. I’ve lived in Levy County for 15 years now. In 2019, I moved to a 110 acre ranch and built a beautiful arena to share with the community and to be able to host events for kids and families.
When I was a kid, and even still now, horses were my escape from everything else. I’m so grateful that there were local arenas where I grew up that I could ride on the weekends with other horse kids. Some of which are lifetime friendships that I continue to share to this day. Not everyone can have an arena at their house and most people have no one to ride with for company or safety reasons.
After a year of having shows my neighbor(s) started complaining to the county and got us shut down. They’ve made numerous false claims and have complained that the horse trailers are tearing up the Levy County dirt roads. Saying that they are going 50 miles an hour plus, which anyone that has horses knows that you’re not going to be going that fast on a dirt road with your hundred thousand dollar rig plus your precious animals in the trailer. We are very mindful and have one to three shows a month maximum. Only on the weekends and we try to shut down no later than 10 PM.
We went In front of the Levy County zoning and planning board on August 2, Only to be tabled because enough information wasn’t given about the road department etc. Now we are Starting this petition to try to get others involved and let the county know how important it is to have a special place to bring your kids and have a family oriented event. We have tried to be mindful to others for every event we have done.
We understand the neighbors concerns about the trailers and trucks leaving here a little late on the weekends. We are willing to put up a 6 foot privacy fence down the side of the property to help buffer the noise and lights from the traffic.
We hope that you’ll join in signing this petition to hopefully get Countin On Merci Ranch Arena back up and running so we can continue holding these events for these kids, that some, might not have much of anything except for their horse.
