As you all know, my daughter Yahaira was excluded to tryout for junior high cheer. Yahaira is a very active member in her community and class. She does multiple different sports, cheer being her main sport. Cheering has been very beneficial to Yahaira. She’s been ask to step in leadership roles at the gym where she is a member, she’s lost weight and gained self-confidence, and she has also been featured on business websites for advertising her skills.  Yahaira is a very cheerful  young athlete. She’s  charismatic, fun to be around, she keeps up with her grades, and she helps with tutoring her classmates in math. Some members of the school do not believe Yahaira can represent Hubbard Junior High. Unfortunately,  Hubbard ISD has a system in place that is detrimental to student athletes, prohibiting  them to tryout for the cheer squad. This system is geared to be more in favor of certain students as opposed to others.
