I am an 8th grader at Westview Middle School. St Vrain Valley school district gives students iPads to assist in learning. Other schools in the district have iPads that, yes, have restrictions, but not as high of restrictions as the iPads at Westview. For example, other middle schools can change the background wallpaper, meanwhile Westview cannot. Other middle schools can download apps rated 9+ using the app store, while Westview does not have the app store at all. Frankly, I think it is unfair that Westview doesn’t get the same privileges as other schools. For example, having a pretty iPad layout motivates me to work harder, but because I can’t even change my wallpaper, I can’t do that. There are several apps that several people would like to download, but I can’t because we don’t have app store, like Goodnotes, Forest, and Todoist. I am making this petition because we all deserve the same privileges, no matter what school we are at. I am doing this for the incoming 6th graders and the current 7th and 6th graders.
