The city of Lake Jackson has long prohibited keeping chickens within city limits. This practice is outdated and should be done away with. Chickens are a great source of food and pest control. Allowing chickens in a controlled manner will allow citizens to keep mosquitos, ticks, small snakes, and mice out of their yards without use of pesticides. Citizens would be able to have fresh eggs everyday without that last minute run to the grocery store. We want our children to know the value of hard work and reaping the benefits of their labor, and chickens are a great way to do this. We are planning on approaching City Council in hopes of changing this ordinance and would love your support!
