Most of the parents with children at Mt Laurel went to Chelsea. Mt Laurel was built as a Chelsea school. Our children and us should be allowed to choose whether our kids go to Chelsea or Oak Mountain. We shouldn’t be forced to go to Oak Mountain. My 5 year old, for example has his mind and heart set on playing football for Chelsea because my nephew did. He will not even entertain the thought of playing for anybody else. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to get to Oak Mountain because of traffic. I would have to leave work an hour early after working night shift to get my kids to school on time. If they ride the bus they will be on the bus for over an hour to and from school. If there are too many students in the Chelsea school system already, then stop building subdivisions and adding more and more students! Also Chelsea was just changed to 7A, and with all of the children from Mt Laurel leaving Chelsea for Oak Mountain the school system will be well below the number for 7A. That means sports will suffer greatly. Chelsea will be playing against other 7A schools but will not have the teams for that. There are several reasons why we should be able to choose. These are just a few! Please consider allowing us to choose which school our kids go to!
