Let Ukraine Family visa holders use housing provided by Homes for Ukraine hosts
Ukrainian family members (parents, siblings, siblings' children, etc) are eligible to join their relatives in the UK under the Ukrainian Family visa scheme, but the government crucially DOES NOT provide an accommodation solution for them. Their UK-based relatives don't have enough room for everyone, and they can't afford to rent private accommodation. Their only option is to apply to be treated as 'homeless' by the local council on arrival, or take a responsible approach and sadly just not to travel to the UK at all.
We request the UK government applies fair and joined up thinking, by allowing refugees in the Family scheme category to be hosted by those on the Homes for Ukraine scheme who haven't found anyone to sponsor yet. They too will then get the same benefit of a minimum of 6 months' free accommodation, as do those on the Homes for Ukraine scheme. They will not end up either homeless in the UK, or stranded in Ukraine.
