Let the kindergarten students be accompanied by one guardian on their first day of school!

Myself and fellow kindergarten parents are extremely distraught that we can not attend our children’s first day of school with them. This a huge milestones in our children’s lives, which we will never get back. It isn’t good enough to classify all children into one category, with one set rule. Our children had their kinderstart session cut short. This prepares them for kindergarten, how can you determine they are ready?? They are not prepared as any other child would have been.
Now to throw them to the wolves so to speak on their first day. Parents and caregivers are asking for a chance to be a part of this first day and help ease the children into their new endeavour.
Why hasn’t the first day of school been broken down into multiple sessions. Whether so many children have different time slots the same day or different children have different start dates. This way fewer numbers of children can be accompanied by one parent or caregiver. The parent/caregiver can no doubt be required to wear a mark. The parent/guardian could be present for at least an hour of this. This is all we are asking.
Please understand these 4/5 year olds have emotional needs. On top of being scared to go to a building they’ve barely been to and left for 7 hours with strangers. Now to throw in they cannot be accompanied by someone they are familiar with to ease into it.
We will be our children’s advocate! Please take a stand with us!!
