Schechter is all about community. Many kids are friends with students in grades above and below themselves. Sophomore students are on the same sports teams as juniors and seniors, they participate in the same activities and clubs, and socially these grades are very connected. It is understandable that freshmen students might need a transitional year to acclimate from middle school, but sophomore students have already assimilated into the high school community by this point in their education. Many other public and private schools allow sophomore students to go off campus for lunch. This is a petition for parents and students to sign to allow sophomores off campus during lunch the way juniors and seniors can. This petition affirms that sophomore students have the maturity and experience for this privilege.
