Job ageism not only exists but its thriving. Despite the rhetoric around Australia's ageing workforce, the endless hours spent crafting policies of inclusivity and diversity to make work places fair for all, it's an uphill battle to get a job that fits your skill set if you are over 50.

What we need is for Governments to genuinely recognise the value that older people bring to the workforce. Older people may not be as tech savvy as their younger counterparts but a capacity to be visionary, strategic, innovative and commercially astute doesn't necessarily decline with age. And we've seen a lot so we are generally quicker to figure out when the wool is being pulled over our eyes.
This petition advocates for:
A bigger Government push to help create jobs for older people that match their skills and expertise.
Employers to take greater responsibility for creating inclusive workplaces and
- become more accountable and transparent about interviewing and selection practices as they relate to older people.
- create transparency about the profile of the workforce including reporting on recruitment into the over 50s age group.
