Abolish the peerage rights of the Lords Spiritual

The UK is a richly diverse, secular country which is Christian in name only. Less than 5% of the population attend church on a regular basis.
This petition is to ask parliament to reconsider whether holding up to 26 seats in the House of Lords for Bishops is appropriate. After all, it could be argued that their only qualification for being there is that they are very good at make believe.
A great many issues are ratified by the upper house, and the over representation of a particular religion is unhelpful and unrepresentative of the people of this country. For example, the LGBTQ+ population are not recognised by the Church.
We ask the government to remove the right to a seat from the clergy, and instead have them elected individually, in the same way the other major faiths are.
