Hello everyone, we are students from Highscope Bintaro. As students we need to take action to keep our oceans safe from plastic. So today we're going to share about plastic waste in the ocean where there is a lot of plastic trash.

Ecosystem is a geographic area where plants, animals, and other organisms, as well as weather and landscape, work together to form a bubble of life. Ecosystem needs to be balanced because it leads to the continuous existence of the organism. Factors that disrupt the balance of the ecosystem are depletion of ozone layer, accelerated soil erosion, deforestation, etc. One of the causes of the ecosystem imbalance is human action that contributes to plastic waste.

Plastic waste or plastic pollution is the accumulation of plastic objects ( plastic bottle, plastic straw, plastic bag, etc) in the earth’s environment that affects wildlife habitat, wildlife, and humans. Every year plastic trash in the ocean is 11 million metric tons or it could be 8-14 million tonnes of plastic that enters the ocean every year.  Plastic waste is likely to remain in the ocean; it might take 450 years to break down the plastic. 

The effect of plastic waste in marine, the marine animals ingest the plastic. When humans eat the marine animals that ingest the plastic, microplastic is entered to human blood. Plastic debris distribution is extremely variable due to a variety of factors including wind and ocean currents, metropolitan areas, coastline geography, and trade routes. In conclusion, the marine plastic waste is an urgent problem that we need to solve. 

For the solution we could use something that is not related to plastic, for example: we could use paper bags, paper straw, paper containers, paper cups, and also we can use bamboo straw, organic plastic, or reusable bags. Moreover, we can recycle the plastic into useful products.
