I am a student at LaCenter High School, LaCenter, WA. We are a 1A school, with roughly 15-20% of the student population being LGBTQ+. Almost every day, LGBTQ+ students like me are harassed and bullied, especially in the bathroom. I can't use the men's restroom because I would get beaten up. I can't use the ladies' room because the girls would tell their parents that I was a pervert. to avoid all of that, I use the office bathroom. Sounds like a good solution, Right? Not really. The office bathroom is in the nurse's room. Since COVID, that said room is constantly occupied and there is no way to get to the restroom. There are 6 main bathrooms in the school; 3 for boys and 3 for girls, with 4 on the first story and two on the second story. All I ask is that we convert 1 or 2 of those bathrooms to gender neutral bathrooms. This will make it easier for kids like me to use the restroom in peace. If we get enough signatures, LGBTQ+ kids will be in a safer environment. If we don't get enough, kids will still have a hard time. You can make this change.
