As part of my Year 13 Social Action class my aim is to to influence a policy change. This policy change is for kerbside recycling to be included in Upper Hutt rates.

Having access to recycling is something I am passionate about and I believe this should be a part of Upper Hutt rates, the same as Wellington City, Hutt City and Porirua.

Kerbside recycling is more convenient for residents and this lowers the carbon footprint of each household. In order to do this, it needs to be straightforward and what is more so than recycling collection from your driveway?

With the upcoming election and the possibility of new faces on the council,  this could be the time to push once again for a change to this policy.
