The Rogers outage on July 8, 2022 is just the latest reason in why we should nationalize our country's communication infrastructure. We should not be at the mercy of the 3 big telecom companies for accessing what has become necessary infrastructure to do business and live. Lives are at risk due to failures in the 911 system as well as many essential services that run this country every day. The post office exists because there was a need to ensure that letters and package got to where they were supposed to be. This is supplemented by private companies like Fedex, UPS and others. Today the internet is just as important if not more than the post office was 150+ years ago. We can not let these companies continue their business practices of poor customer service, high prices, and fragile infrastructure. I call on the Federal Government to nationalize internet and communications to ensure Canadians have reliable, effective access to critical, important services.
