The superintendent for District 31 is planning on ELIMINATING the librarian position at Winkelman.

We all should be saddened and ashamed that this might happen in our district.  Librarians are critical members of the staff. 

The plan is for the Field librarian be split between the buildings. Students will be negatively impacted at both buildings. One person can not effectively manage and keep up to date the collections at both schools, provide support to staff and teach critical skills to students ranging from PK-8!

I personally believe that Mrs Fisher has been a critical and influential teacher within my own child’s life. She has aided my child with learning to read and gave her the desire for reading! One teacher being split across two schools would not be able to get as close and personal to each student. They would sincerely either be stretched too thin or the quality of education would diminish.
