Let's Fight Racism!
Racism, also called racialism, the belief that humans may be divided into separate and exclusive biological entities called “races”; that there is a causal link between inherited physical traits and traits of personality, intellect, morality, and other cultural and behavioral features; and that some races are innately superior to others. The term is also applied to political, economic, or legal institutions and systems that engage in or perpetuate discrimination on the basis of race or otherwise reinforce racial inequalities in wealth and income, education, health care, civil rights, and other areas.(Britannica.com) Do we need to depend on what race a person came from to recognize what they can do? The big question is WHAT CAN WE DO TO STOP RACISM?
According on researches racism can exert negative effects on the self-concepts, health and well-being, and life trajectories of both nondominant racial-ethnic (NDRE) youth and youth-serving providers. In the face of growing nationalism, ethnocentrism, xenophobia, and overt expressions of racism, the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine recognizes the critically important need to address the issue of racism and its impact on both NDRE youth and youth-serving providers. Organizations involved in clinical care delivery and health professions training and education must recognize the deleterious effects of racism on health and well-being, take strong positions against discriminatory policies, practices, and events, and take action to promote safe and affirming environments.
Being part of a certain race should not define whether we should be part of this organization or being tired with this company when seeking for a job. We should stop looking on what a person's physical appearance but on the talent a person has. It is not what skin color a person have to become a leader, it is about a person's capability to lead. Beacuse sometimes the person we discriminate was more capable of doing things you don't expect. Let's create a world where everyone is free to show their talents without being judged because of the race where they came from. Each and every one of us plays a role in either contributing to or breaking down racial prejudice and intolerant attitudes. WE NEED TO TAKE AN ACTION NOW!
