Nigel Ridgeon started this petition to UK Parliament and

It's important to recognise & remember perhaps 1m key workers personally impacted by the pandemic, like my PSTD-afflicted NHS friends ... AND it's important we continue to remember all the already 250k+ UK victims of the pandemic, either dead or suffering Long-COVID. We need to remember and honour all victims, and to recognise the huge contribution of all key workers in the pandemic. Some may say "it's too soon yet to think about this" ... but actually it's never too early to do the right thing, or to get the ball rolling!

We call on Parliament and the UK government to:

1. establish a permanent "Pandemic & Key Workers National Memorial" and site  (perhaps in London not far from the Cenotaph), including a statue clearly depicting the figures of say 6-8 recognisable types of key-workers

2. establish a permanent annual national, the "Pandemic and Key Workers Remembrance Day" (PKWRD), with an annual public PKWRD Ceremony and Solemn Parade at the Memorial

3. establish a useful & sizeable new charity, the "Pandemic & Key Workers Memorial Fund", which will around memorial day raise funds to help & support all those still living with the effects of the pandemic, e.g. NHS staff suffering PTSD, children with ongoing mental health issues, and sufferers from Long-COVID, etc.

We suggest 23rd March (Lockdown#1 day) as the date for Pandemic and Key Workers Remembrance Day, or the first Sunday after 23rd March each year.

Ceremonies will be National and simultaneous at 11am at the National Memorial and locally in cities, towns & villages throughout the UK. Attending will be representatives of all types of Key Workers incl NHS. The national ceremony will be televised, as is the current armistice Remembrance Day.
