My family obtained refugee status for the Yougoslav war in the 1990s. To have the opportunity to grow up in a safe country, to have the opportunity to go to school and university and study what I want has been the greatest blessing of my life.

Canada is the place of the dream of true freedom. Why is the government refusing that dream?

This man cannot return to his home and family as his safety would be threatened. He should be able to become a citizen and bring his family here after the YEARS they've been apart.

Refugee status is something that should be easy to obtain for those indeed, and in this case especially, those who make a decent contribution to their accepting society.

Anyone who doesn't feel safe in their own country for any reason should be able to find refuge here. What is the point of excess if we can't share it? Leaving your home is not a decision anyone takes lightly, the fact that someone felt uncomfortable enough in their home country to flee here should be reason enough for them to stay.

I can understand the victim's family's need to see justice done, but going after anyone other than the killer himself is not just. This man should not be harmed if indeed he had no part in his cousin's crime.
