Government unaccountability in greece is at its lowest level possibly ever. The public prosecutor found it appropriate to arrest a journalist, but instead leave everyone else who should be accountable to use the list free. We should instead be congratulating mr. Vaxevanis for not letting go on the subject and bringing matters forward, something that the public prosecutor failed to do.
Quick facts: Mr. Vaxevanis published a list of names of Greeks with accounts on HSBC Geneva. The list has been a matter of debate in recent months, as it was initially handed to the Greek government by the IMF for possible tax evasion, however a series of governmnets failed to act upon it in a criminal way. An arrest warrant was issued and the journalist was arrested today. The sad part is that today is Greece's national WWII commemoration holiday.
