Thanks to ALL our supporters!!!
Jun 27, 2014 — I wanted to take a time out to thank all of our supporter and signers. This has been a tremendous response that we never expected. Your signatures are making a difference!
Recent trip to New York city and Long Island proved that word about Kari's Law is spreading. Suffolk County (Long Island New York) has proposed legislation based on Kari's Law. We spoke to the Suffolk County Legislature and learned later that day that the proposed legislation sailed through the Safety Committee and now awaits a vote in July. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2014/06/12/texas-family-comes-to-l-i-to-show-support-for-proposed-karis-law/
Also, Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, proposed Senate Bill 3313 based on Kari's Law and the results were simply amazing. See here http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp?DocNum=3313&GAID=12&DocTypeID=SB&SessionID=85&GA=98 We are now awaiting a signature from the Govenor. You might send a gentle note his way, Gov. Pat Quinn https://www2.illinois.gov/gov/Pages/ContacttheGovernor.aspx
After traveling to different parts of the country it is OBVIOUS that 911 needs revamping. Now is the time to really show the ones that count how serious we are about this subject. The increase in signatures has gotten a tremendous amount of attention and getting more signatures will help push this legislation to right people and get it done. Please, tell everyone you know to sign the petition but ONLY if they agree with it.
We have found the phenomenal way social media has helped this petition gain notoriety was a surprise and I think that spreading the word through your Facebook, Twitter and Email accounts will most certainly push this petition above the 1/2 million mark! Your help is wholeheartedly appreciated and if you can work it into your schedule to help spread the word again I am sure the results will be astounding.
Thank you all again, There is no need for a child to not be answered when they do what they are taught to do in an emergency. If a child dials 911 from any phone in the United States they should hear on the other end, "911, what is your emergency?".
Help us make that happen!
