Tesco are not allowing drivers of class 1 vehicles to rest in their cabs while they are waiting to get unloaded . Sometimes waits can be as long as 4 hours long.

Instead they are having to wait in dirty , noisy and uncomfortable waiting rooms where it’s not uncommon for warehouse staff to also take their breaks.

We all know how tiring driving can be and this valuable opportunity for a well earned rest is being denied by Tesco in the interest of their own RDC and NDC (National and regional distribution centres) health and safety polices, at the expense of truck drivers .

It’s a practice that could be rectified by allowing drivers to stay in their cabs at least until the loading bay light changes to red, which signals unloading or loading.
