Let Florida Voters Decide on a Constitutional Ban on Offshore Drilling

As oil from the Deepwater Horizon disaster hundreds of miles away in the Gulf washes onto our shores, destroying wildlife habitat and stifling business alike, it is time to permanently protect Florida's beaches from the potential of a devastating spill as close as 3 miles from our shores. We urge the Florida Legislature: Let the Voters Decide!

Letter to
Florida State House
Florida State Senate
Florida Governor
As oil from the Deepwater Horizon disaster hundreds of miles away in the Gulf washes onto our shores, destroying wildlife habitat and stifling business alike, it is time to permanently protect Florida's beaches from the potential of a devastating spill as close as 3 miles from our shores.

A constitutional ban on offshore drilling in Florida waters (3-10 miles from shore) should be put to the voters on the November ballot.

I am urging you to support a special session of the Florida Legislature, to be convened immediately. Please vote to place an amendment banning drilling in Florida's waters on the November 2010 ballot.

The citizens of the State of Florida deserve to have their votes counted. Our very livelihoods are at stake.
