A school in our county is getting shut down and they are going to send their kids to the two other schools in our county. This is not the issue. We have no problem with the students. The Board of Education has decided to fire one of the teachers from our school who has had one of the most positive influences on our kids, along with two other teachers, Mrs. Lozada and Mrs. Drain, who are just as important in these kids lives. Coach Justin Duke is described by almost every student as one of the best/favorite teachers they've ever had. He's done so much for them out of the kindness of his own heart, not just because of his job title. He's not just a favorite teacher, he's a favorite coach. The kids that he coaches are not just better players, they're better people. Choosing him and the other teachers from this school is a mistake and they need to know it. Parents are going to the BOE meeting tonight and speaking their voice but we need all the help we can get. There are two other schools in the county that these tenure teachers can go to, but we're the only school that had heard anything about their teachers getting fired that we know of. We need all the help we can get because many of the students and parents are heartbroken over this and if we are the only school letting teachers go, then this is not right.
