LeSEA Broadcasting: Release the complete tapes of Rich Mullins

I recently tried to obtain unreleased Rich Mullins footage from the LeSEA Broadcasting studio located in South Bend, IN.

For those who don't know the background of this regarded footage, about an hour and a half of it was released on the DVD portion of the Rich Mullins: Here In America album release back in 2003. I started chasing after this footage in early December of 2016 knowing a lot of footage was left off. The footage of Rich consisted of A Ragamuffin Band's Live From Studio b concert from March 14, 1997 and a two-day seminar of Rich teaching and performing songs in February 1994.

I continuously went back and forth contacting several different people from both LeSEA and Provident, (the label that owns Reunion records) with neither of them being much help at first. Eventually the license manager for Provident responded saying they couldn't give me any of the footage used, and if they still had it was in a permanent out of state storage facility. I assume that Reunion was given copies of all the material and edited it themselves for the DVD.

LeSEA got back to me after some time and told me they had 18 beta SX/SP tapes, 4 high-8 tapes, and 2-3 D2 tapes. What surprised me was to hear none of these tapes had been digitized, and were lying around in a stack. I was given the opportunity of receiving digital footage for the price of $100 a minute, or $20 an hour to watch at the studio in South Bend. I figured this was probably the price they agreed with Reunion on the release back in the early 2000's. I attempted to make an offer that I considered well worth the price to digitize the tapes, but their management shut it down sticking to their previous offer.

I am creating this petition to LeSEA Broadcasting in hope that the management sees there is huge potential in digitizing these tapes and releasing the footage for the public to enjoy. I think it would be great if the performances in their entirety could be either put on LeSEA's website for people to stream or purchase at a reasonable price, especially with the upcoming anniversary of Rich's passing. It saddens me to know there are hours of unreleased footage collecting dust, while they try to charge someone $100 a minute for it.

I didn't know Rich, I was born just four months after he passed. But During the course of my life Rich's vocation and music has inspired, convicted, and challenged me to draw closer with God. During the past few years I've seen and met hundreds of people who have also been touched by this mans ministry in the same ways. I hope fans and believers alike will consider signing and show LeSEA that people care about this cause for Rich's ongoing legacy.
