Demand Stronger Action Against Gun Violence (NJ CD-7)

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

We, the concerned residents of New Jersey's 7th Congressional District (Essex County, Hunterdon County, Morris County, Somerset County, Union County, Warren County), petition Congressman Leonard Lance to support future, effective gun control legislation.

As parents, students, teachers, and citizens, we call on Representative Lance to responsibly respect the concerns of his constituents by voting for legislation banning the use and sale of semi-automatic weapons, bump stock attachments, and weapon silencers, along with legislation requiring stricter universal, background checks for private gun sales and gun shows. We also demand legislation to prevent individuals from purchasing guns if they have a history of domestic violence or mental illness, and insist on legislation that would allow law enforcement to confiscate guns of reported and suspected individuals.

Following the recent Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida, along with the other countless mass shootings that have tragically occurred in the U.S. in 2018 thus far, we believe that the prevalence of gun violence in the United States is an outstanding threat to the safety of all Americans. We should not have to live in fear of mass shootings when on school premises or when in public areas.

Thank you for signing the petition and joining us as we say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Congressman Lance, who received a 93% approval rating by the National Rifle Association in 2016, is up for re-election this upcoming November in the 2018 Congressional Midterm Election. Please vote to show him that we no longer accept his thoughts and prayers as his visceral response to gun violence. We need more than thoughts and prayers. We need action. If you are currently not registered to vote, visit in order to register.
