Call for Rep. Devin Nunes to recuse himself from the Russia investigation

During his town hall this past February, Rep. Leonard Lance told a crowd of 1,000 constituents that he supported an investigation of Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election and that he had confidence in the intelligence committees. “My views are that Russia is not a friend of the United States and that Vladimir Putin has been a bad actor on the world stage, that the incursions into the Ukraine and the Crimea are not to be tolerated, and we should be wary of Vladimir Putin,” Lance said.
But now the leader of one of those committees has compromised the integrity and credibility of their investigation. Instead of sharing classified information with the members of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Devin Nunes shared it with the press and the White House. For the investigation to keep its integrity and credibility, Nunes must recuse himself.
Last week, Rep. Walter Jones became the first Republican in Congress to join Democrats in calling for Nunes to recuse himself from the panel's investigation into Russia's meddling in last year’s election.
Lance should join his fellow congressmen in calling for Nunes to recuse himself from the investigation into Russia's meddling in last year's election. If Nunes does not recuse himself from the investigation, Lance should support a measure to establish a independent bipartisan select committee to probe Russian interference in the U.S. election.
