25% Extra Time for Students with Dyslexia in Irish State Examinations

0 have signed. Let’s get to 7,500!

This petition is to request 25% more time in exams for students with Dyslexia in Irish State Examinations - Junior & Leaving Certificate. This would help level the playing field for students that require additional time for exams. Not all students qualify for spelling and grammar waivers or readers & scribes. Many countries in Europe already offer this additional time to students.

It is estimated that 10% of students have Dyslexia but that is diagnosed. There is approximately another 10% that don't have a formal diagnosis. Students with dyslexia can take up to 3 times longer to read, decode and comprehend exam questions.

Ireland - No extra time for students with Dyslexia

UK - GCSE, AS & A Level - 25% more time

France - Bacalaureate - 25% more time
