In the recent time renting in Ireland, especially in Dublin have become merciless, expensive, unreliable and one cant live life in 21st century without sharing an apartment or a room with others to cover the sky rocketing rents that the landloards are milking out of people.

Their has been reports of Fifteen people sharing one room in house with 70 tenants - https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/fifteen-people-sharing-one-room-in-house-with-70-tenants-35358798.html

Tenants pay €400 to rent bunk bed in shower roomhttps://www.independent.ie/irish-news/tenants-pay-400-to-rent-bunk-bed-in-shower-room-38143366.html

The above cases may be extreme but their is ongoing trend of more than 2 people sharing a small room, sometimes upto 4 to 6 people.

Another, problem that have arised is since getting a lease have become so hard, if someone gets a lease they sublet on higher prices and pay their rent out of other people money.

During my search for a single bedroom in last one month,  I haven't found a single room in a shared apartment (a joke) it is a rare commodity to find these days, landloards are putting in 2 bunk beds in single rooms, with about a foot of space left between the bed to fit 4 people (extracting upto 500€ per person, making around 2000€ from a single room) in a room that could only support 1 person if we look at it from ethical perspective.

On top of this landloards are misusing the law to evict or pressure tenants to leave by saying they are selling the property or their relative is going to be moving in (classic they are going by the book, these are the circumstances listed in the law that helps landloards to take away shelter from people).

Some landloards have found ways around law by going through the weekly rent modal, so they can always charge more and ask people to leave anytime.

The whole housing business is very messed up these are just couple details among many others.

Personal experience:

I moved in an apartment in city center on a 6 months contract and after about 2 months in tenancy, landlady visits and notifies that the deal to sell have been agreed, and I will need to move out, for this month she even demanded an increased rent then what is on the contract to pressure me to leave the apartment. So, overall it wast worth it to move in to this apartment, if i have known would have never moved in for such a short period of time.

Are we living in 21st century, is this the dream Europe or Ireland ? These are some serious questions ?

Will the government and the Prime Minster - Leo Varadkar take steps to improve and regulate the situation or the landloards will continue to milk people forever, I dont know the ins and outs of German regulation on renting but have heard a lot of good things about, it may be a good idea for the government to use it as a blueprint/guide to help regulate the renting industry.

Will government regulate AirBNB, to aid with housing crises, and make affordable housing accessible (not free or social housing but affordable housing that is sold ethically without sellers bloating the prices to make huge amount of cash, leaving other people under unbearable debt for a lifetime.
