I really don't understand why anyone would want to get married in Australia today.  Don't get me wrong, I am extremely pleased that everyone, regardless of sexual preference can now get legally married.  Everyone ought to be under the same rules, regulations and laws in a democracy and have equal rights to the discrimination that comes with marriage.  Equality in Australia is a joke and the laugh is on all of us.  You don't think that married couples get discriminated against?  Let me explain.  All my working life I am seen as an Individual taxpayer, married or single makes absolutely no difference to the rate of tax I pay.  When I reach age pension age, for some reason I am seen as married and so my partners income and assets are combined with mine to see if I qualify for a pension.  If I do qualify under the rules of asset and income limits, I receive less money than I would if I were single.  How is this not discrimination against married couples?

Now, our politicians and bureaucrats are some of the highest paid and wealthy individuals in our society and yet they can receive their pensions regardless of the assets and income that they have and whether married or single.  It appears that we have let them do what they want, so of course they exempt themselves from asset and income limits when it comes to their pensions.

Vote now for equality for all.
