Change the way the NHS Blood Donation Service Stops Gay Men Donating Blood.

Within the NHS there are policies that prevent homosexual sexually active couples particularly men from donating blood 3 months after sexual intercourse.
This is due to an infection risk to the patient group receiving blood transfusions and transfusions alike, I agree that there is an infection risk but it is not only gay men that host as an infection risk. I propose that the National Health Service for Blood and Transplant Services changes its policies and add a new screening process when recruiting blood donor's that includes a Sexual Health screening.
This removes discrimination to just gay men and instead is an inclusive and patient focused method that ensures that the infection risk is further minimised or infact removed.
Patient Safety is the focus of the NHS and I as an NHS employee can vouch for this. However, we as an organisation are discriminating against individuals protected characteristics of Sexual Orientation.
Gay Men are not the only host for HIV and it is time for change!
