S A started this petition to Leicester City Council

We represent the LEICESTER CITY COUNCIL as taxi drivers, but the  council never turn up to protect us as drivers, colleagues and partners!

As private hire drivers we work very hard and long hours to make an honest living to feed our families and a roof over them. Our roles involve taking people from all walks of lives to their destinations safely. We serve the people of our city to the best of our ability and continue to provide the best service to all clients.

Cars are being broken, windows smashed and vandalised on a regular basis and the council are doing absolutely nothing to tackle the situation or solve the problem. Regardless wether it is part of their rules , it is putting the drivers out of pocket having to repair unnecessary damage caused you our vehicles which we have to purchase. The vehicles are very expensive to put on the road and we adhere to the rules places and remove the cars when they are of a certain age. It is tough enough to initially purchase and plate the vehicle for work. All regular repairs and maintenance are within the councils rules and regulations being checked twice a year to be roadworthy.

We as drivers of the council are never been looked at or looked after. At the end the day the council makes money from us and is just a business charging us for badges, plates, mot’s etc. As long as they are making money off us they do not take our views or concerns on board.

We as drivers look to find alternatives ways to save our cars from being broken into and vandalised and also help save us money unnecessarily spent.

All our drivers will stand united until this problem is resolved.

We hope the council can work with us, we work and represent the LEICESTER CITY COUNCIL. Will the council ever protect us??? The fight continues....
