Lehigh University Should Invest in Water-Free Urinals

Water-free urinals are a superior choice to traditional flush urinals, both in terms of environmental sustainability and Lehigh's finances. As they use neither water nor energy to pump the water, the only cost besides the initial purchase of the urinal would be the cost of replacing the traps to keep the mechanism sanitary. Not having to pay for this water or electricity means this is a money-saving investment for Lehigh, and these urinals would conserve an estimated 1000 to 4500 gallons per 100 uses! Water-free urinals would be another simple solution for Lehigh's ongoing conservation efforts, not unlike the school's adaptation of dual-flush toilets and water bottle filling stations, and who can argue with saving money? This would be a great investment for Lehigh's new buildings they have planned or even for retrofitting current restrooms.
