Fantastic Cantilevered Viewing Platform at the Agnes Falls

Fantastic Cantilevered Viewing Platform at the Agnes Falls
Why this petition matters
Two years ago the South Gippsland Shire Council allocated funding to construct a cantilevered viewing platform at the Agnes Falls, to give visitors an exciting and safe experience to view these 59 metre high falls, reputed to be the highest single span falls in Victoria. The falls are currently difficult to see in their entirety, with some people taking risks, jumping the safety barriers, for that "special photo".
The finalised design plans and engineering specifications have been completed, and the project was due to go out to tender early in 2020.
Unfortunately, the Council was dismissed mid-year, and the Victorian Government appointed Administrators have now withdrawn the remaining funding for the construction phase of this important tourism infrastructure project, which has been planned for the past six years, and was finally coming to fruition.
We are lobbying the Victorian Legislative Assembly to urge the State Government to provide funding to Parks Victoria to enable this project to proceed, to help develop the Agnes Falls as a major tourist attraction in South Gippsland, with the consequent economic benefits that would arise from greater visitation to the area.
