Stop the encryption of police, and first responders radio communications.
Why this petition matters

We are asking the Ontario government not to encrypt public safety radio communications in the province of Ontario. All information that is relayed through radio communications is available through an access to information act request, meaning the people have the right to know.
We feel that we have a right to monitor the communications of the services our tax dollars pay for, including the communications of police, and other first responders. It adds a level of accountability to the job that we are paying them to do, but further more this directly affects our abilities to properly protect ourselves, and/or our families if we do choose to do by monitoring these communications. We want the ability to know that there is a potential drunk driver heading our way, or that there has been a major collision ahead so we can safely avoid it. By taking away this tool you are taking away our ability to monitor these communications, and ultimately denying us access to a service that we the people are expected to pay for. We would also like to see any already encrypted radio channels decrypted so that we can monitor those channels as well.
What we are asking of the government of Ontario is a reasonable request that allows us who do monitor the public safety net to continue to monitor it in a responsible manner, and to continue to use these means as a method for keeping us, and those that we care about safe.
