TO The Legislative Assembly of Ontario: -
WHEREAS, the Province of Ontario currently does not have any legislation to mandate Children’s Aid Societies to have any standard practice for recording interviews and interactions which are often later used in Child Protection Proceedings or even the Criminal Courts.
AND WHEREAS, the people that have been wronged by these agencies and others feel that these agencies should have the same standardized practice for recording interviews as the Police do when these interviews can result in Criminal Charges or even having children removed from their families.
WE, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:
To amend the Child and Family Services Act to impose a requirement that all Children’s Aid Societies defined under section 15 of the act, implement mandatory audio and video recording for any and all interactions with their staff members and their clients, including but not limited to Children and/or Parents involved in any file. This amendment should also include a provision for mandatory audio and video recording of all supervised access visits that take place in a Children’s Aid Society office or on their property.
WE, the undersigned also ask for this amendment to allow for any party to a case to have complete and unrestricted access to these audio and video recordings in a timely manner as part of their disclosure that is already entitled to them as part of Rule 19 of the Family Law Rules.
