Get Better Working Conditions for Adidas Factory Workers
A huge majority of people own Adidas products, but no one knows what is behind their new sweatshirt or running shoes. Adidas workers are suffering every day to make our products, and what they get in return are little pay and dangerous conditions.
Consumers enjoyment of Adidas products does not come anywhere close to the level of suffering Adidas laborers are feeling. It is selfish of us to put them in such a position for some new clothes.
The Universal Declaration of Human rights was established in 1948 by Eleanor Roosevelt with the support of the United Nations in order to define the rights that all humans are entitled to. The treatment of Adidas laborers defies article 23, sub-article 1 of the UDHR, which states that all workers have the right to "favourable work conditions." The sweatshops that produce Adidas products are very dangerous, and do not respect the rights of the workers.
Small steps are needed to reach a final goal, so here are some thing you can do:
- Email Kasper Rørsted, the CEO of Adidas at kasper.rorsted@adidas-group.com. Tell him about your opinions on how he chooses to treat his workers.
- Cover the Adidas logo on you Adidas products. This prevents you from being a walking advertisement for their brand
- Simply reduce the amount of products you buy from Adidas
Thank you for helping make a change!
