Why this petition matters

LUU, who makes our clothes?

Increasingly, more people want to know #whomademyclothes. For this reason, we, Just Love Leeds, supported by the students of the University of Leeds, are asking our union that very question.

We want complete clarity in the supply chain of the clothes sold by LUU, ensuring that they are sustainably and ethically sourced. We want the University of Leeds to stop supporting fast-fashion, challenging them to sell fairly-made and fairly-paid clothing.

We feel the union has an obligation to use suppliers with sustainable practices, ethical working conditions, employing underprivileged members of society or who donate a percentage of their profits. By asking for this, our clothes can create positive social change for both our planet and its people. Hopefully, as more universities follow suit, clothing companies will do the same. As well as Leeds, universities such as Glasgow and Exeter are demanding their union's to do the same thing.

We want to be making informed choices that align with our personal values. We want to know who is making our clothes and that they being treated well. It is unacceptable that LUU clothes potentially have slavery in their supply chain, yet we are unaware.

Sign our petition to tell the Leeds University Union that it's time for action!
