ACT NOW & Please Prevent another "Private Housing Development" - 14 Bedroom Apartment from being built on the Site on : 180 CHAPELTOWN ROAD, LEEDS LS7 4HT There has been No "Community Public Consultation" in a local Community Conservation Heritage Site (Chapeltown, Leeds, LS7)...Since the 1800's Chapeltown is a thriving and diverse community formed as "New Leeds" it's the home to the international Leeds West-Indian Carnival (50th Anniversary - Aug 2017), a Youthful Jimi Hendrix performed at the former Pheonix Night Club, it was home to the international footballer Micah Richards, Jamaica and Barbados Society were founded here, amongst being a "faith & cultural" mecca  across international generations - The Leeds Grand Mosque and The salvation for the Jewish Community during the 1900's.

In the 21st century the community has overcome adversity to provide community cohesion. As a result to National Social Cuts, Leeds City Council made the decision to sell the properties within the local area to the dismay of many local residents and influential community leaders. 178-180 Chapeltown Road was built in the 1800's for social purposes and has been the home of the Rugby Union League, Leeds Black Elders Association, Leeds Youth Services and West Yorkshire Youth Association a youth project for young people aged 5-13 years old.

It has now been privately SOLD to developers for over £300,000 and has not provided Public Consultation to its SALE and its Outcome (April 2017).

As of 5th May 2017 the Private Developers have applied for permission from Leeds City Council to DEMOLITION of this Heritage site. However it is in a conservation area and NO public consultation has been given to those living in the local community.

  • We Require More Community Independent based buildings in the area to sustain the future generations residing in the area. Within the 1989 UN Convention on The Rights of The Child the young people should be consulted in decisions that impact them and the local community within the 1998 Human Rights Act (Article 1, Article 11 and Article 10 - Freedom of Expression ....
  • As a collective of diverse "social action" local community based residents and in the role of Community Health Volunteer Champion, Youth Workers, Community Leaders and Residents we Unite in order to "Reclaim Back our Spaces" within the remit of international Repartration...
  • We Urgently need to Seek Action Now!! and have to take Public Action and written responses by the 19th May 2017 to Leeds City Council Planning Department...

When: On Site we are holding a Public Petition on Chapeltown Road - In Peace and Livity.

Chapeltown Unite in Peace and Livity (ADAWAH and Dundat work in partnership with the local community to conserve our HERITAGE!!!!
