Petition Leeds Council to keep International Cricket at Headingley
This petition had 161 supporters
Without investment from Leeds City Council international cricket will disappear from Headingley by 2019. On top of this Headingley will not be considered as a staging ground for the new ECB T20 competition.
Funding from the council is needed to supplement private and Lottery money to allow for a revamp of the Football end stand. A revamp which would improve the spectator experience for both cricket and rugby league. As well as allowing YCCC to keep test, ODI and T20I cricket in Leeds for the foreseeable future.
The loss of high level sport from the Headingley area will be devastating, impacting the local economy, as well as the lives of sports fans all over Yorkshire (and beyond).
Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Leeds Rhinos have both written to the council to impress upon them the importance of a decision on funding by the end of March. Without it we could lose this top level sport in Leeds.
Please sign and share this petition to show Leeds Council how much top level cricket and rugby means to the citizens of Leeds, Yorkshire and the North.
