For the past years, Sprowston Community Academy students have been unable to wear shorts/skirts with no tights (and knee-high socks). This petition is for Parents/Carers and pupils who want to change the uniform rules so the pupils don't overheat in hot weather.

In the hot summer months, students are made to sit in classrooms with 25+ pupils with no air conditioning (in most classrooms), this usually makes them overheat which then leads to them becoming distracted and uncomfortable. If students were allowed to have bare legs, the concentration rates would be a lot higher.

Local Secondary Schools, such as Open Academy and Hellesdon High School, are allowed to wear shorts and skirts with knee-high socks. Other schools such as Jane Austen Academy are also allowed to wear shorts and skirts without tights. Why should other schools be allowed if we are not?

If this petition does get enough signatures, and rules are changed, they would be rational. Shorts would be of appropriate length and style and skirts would be worn at an appropriate length with appropriate color socks (if needed).Both of these would be tailored items.

Please sign this petition and help us make a change to our school uniform. And remember, this is for everyone, not just girls!!!
