Why this petition matters

Started by Alan Glen

It is beyond doubt that the current Speaker is utterly biassed against the democratic result of the Referendum to leave the EU. His recent discussions with various leave inclined MP's to discuss what procedural or non procedural tactics can be used to stop the UK leaving on Oct 31st is tarnishing this great office.

The great, 'Speaker of the House' William Lenthall set a precedent when he said, May it please your majesty, I have neither eyes to see, nor tongue to speak, in this place, but as the house is pleased to direct me, whose servant I am here; and I humbly ask pardon that I cannot give any other answer to what your majesty is pleased to demand of me.

John Bercow should heed those words particularly pertaining to following, "what the house is pleased to direct."

Unfortunately he sees himself as a conductor not a referee and brings his high office into disrepute.

At a time of something akin to a national crisis we simply can not tolerate a speaker who, not only disregards his duties but who foments division and possibly civil unrest.

Brexit needs to be seen through for the sake of this great democracy and the removal of a major impediment to that outcome is the removal of the disgraceful Mr Bercow.
