Enforce parking in Telford & Wrekin
This petition had 131 supporters
For too long now Telford has been subject to inconsiderate parking, this has effects on the safety of pedestrians and other road users.
Adopting Civil Parking Enforcement would help tackle this problem, it could support safety for pedestrians and road users whilst also improving access to our high streets'.
At a meeting of Telford & Wrekin Council’s Full Council the issue was raised as a notice of motion by Councillor Eric Carter and seconded by Councillor Nicola Lowery.
It was decided to be put forward for consideration by the Scrutiny Committee before being referred to Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet, however it is feared that this could throw the issue into the deep grass and not be dealt with for many years to come. This petition is focused on urgently requesting that the Council consider a CPE sooner rather than later.
Telford & Wrekin Council are the only authority in the West Mercia area and only one of 22 Nationally that have chosen not adopt Civil Parking Enforcement. However, we have an opportunity to change this - but we need your help. For more information on our campaign and how you can support please go to: www.parkingintelford.co.uk
The ParkinginTelford campaign was initiated by the Telford & Wrekin Conservative Group and has been backed by the Police & Crime Commissioner, Telford's MP and the Wrekin's MP, the Police Inspector for Neighbourhood Policing in Telford and several town and parish councils across the borough.
